I don't know if anyone really cares, but I've been asked before why I don't get out much to "do something" with someone else. So, here's my Mondays.
5:45 am Alarm wakes me up. I do all that important morning stuff and start Praise's oatmeal and get his water.
6:00 Praise wakes up. I give him water in his G-tube.
6:15 I feed him oatmeal. At this point, I notice that Worthy is also awake, but she gets to stay in bed for the meantime.
6:30 I put Praise on the potty. He's 1/2 potty trained. It's the 1/2 that really matters if you know what I mean....In the meantime, I get dressed and make Worthy's oatmeal. I also make Praise's lunch because I forgot the night before. I get Praise off the potty, brush his teeth and wash his face. I get him dressed.
6:50 I get Worthy out of bed and notice her hearing aid batteries are not in the usual spot. I get annoyed and put new ones in and test them to make sure they are still working properly. Later Faithful sheepishly tells me that he put them in a special compartment only after I explain to Gift that he is to never move her hearing aid batteries in a slightly stern voice. At this point big B is going out the door to work.
7:00 I notice the two other boys are not up yet- their alarm was not set correctly so I run downstairs to wake them up. Praise is sitting in front of the door so that he will pee before he needs to run out the door.
7:10 I change Praise and finish dressing him.
7:25 Praise gets on the bus and is off for school. In the meantime, the two boys are doing their morning jobs and Worthy is eating breakfast. I use the moment to get dressed and try to look presentable.
8:00 We start school. Worthy and Gift are in the basement playing, so I use the time to teach Faithful what he needs to be taught. We do Writing, Grammar, and Math. He complains that writing is too hard which makes me think he needs more practice in this area. Make mental note to keep at the thing that is hard until it becomes easy.
9:30 Worthy and Gift are hungry, so we have a mid-morning snack.
9:45 I start school with Gift. He reads to me, does some spelling, handwriting, and math. Worthy at this time is playing with puzzles. She does some stuff on my lap but is too wiggly, so I make her get off and give her a new toy she hasn't played with in a while. She complains about a 2 week old boo boo and insists she needs a band-aid. I try to tell her it's all better, but she insists upon band-aids. She eventually gives up. Faithful continues school on his own.
10:15 Gift is reading to me and Worthy is being wiggly again. She runs off to play somewhere else to give me 10 minutes of Gift reading. We try to play a math game and Worthy bonks herself causing her to cry. I lose it and have a mini-mom temper tantrum.
10:45 Worthy finally feels better and I remind myself that next time I want to lose it, I better be alone in a closet somewhere.
11:15 I order Tubes for Praise's G-tube, batteries for Worthy's hearing aids, and make 2 dental appointments for a Wednesday because that is the only day Brett works at home so I can do stuff like a dental appointment without Worthy getting into everything a dentist office has to offer a curious 3 year old.
12:00 Lunch and Amazing Race. It's our Monday fun thing.
1:00 Worthy goes down for a nap.
1:10 I finish the math game with Gift that I didn't get to finish before (see 10:15).
1:30 I have time with Jesus. I need it.
2:30 Snack time again for Worthy and Faithful
3:00 Praise gets back from school and I wake Worthy up. She is still dressed (unusual!) but has wet her pants so she gets a full pants change.
3:15 Gift gets Worthy's shoes on while I feel Praise a snack and give him water in his feeding tube. He also opens the ramp and gets Worthy in her car seat. He really is helpful like this often.
3:30 We leave for therapy for Praise.
4:45 We get back from therapy and I start making a simple dinner.
5:30 Big B gets home and goes downstairs to get Worthy and Gift. Worthy is buck naked, has taken her hearing aids out and has pulled one of them apart (big no no). Gift apparently didn't think this was an important enough detail to come get mom. When he gets upstairs, I explain that if Worthy is ever naked like that to come get me. Why I have to explain this concept escapes me. We eat and I leave the house to have a night away with friends.
10:15 I get back from a laughter filled night with friends. I feel great and really needed a good laugh. Time to go to bed to do it all over again tomorrow.
So, that's a day in the life of the Benson house. Most days are not as crazy, but always interesting. Worthy really knows how to give this house "interesting".
